Pina began her career as a lawyer in Toronto, Canada.After practicing in real estate, corporate finance and M&A, she accepted a position at Munich Re as a claims expert. During her 25-year career at Munich Re, Pina held increasingly senior positions which included Head of Casualty Unit, North America/UK and International D&O/EPL; Head of Casualty Operations at Munich Reinsurance Company of Canada and Temple Insurance Company;Executive Head of Department UK and Ireland; President, National Clients Division, Munich Re America; and President, Reinsurance Division, Munich Re America. Pina’s last position at Munich Re was Member of the Board of Executive Management where her responsibilities included P&C business and operations in Europe and Latin America.
Pina currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Reinsurance Group of America, the Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers, Blue Marble Micro insurance (Observer) and Attune Insurance(Observer). She also serves as an ambassador for the Insurance Supper Club, an international organization that aims to improve networking opportunities for women across the finance and insurance industries.
Pina has been a member of many industry boards including the Board of the Insurance Information Institute, the Board of the Reinsurance Association of America, and the National Board of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation.
She has been recognized for her contributions to the insurance industry and has received numerous awards including the Association of Professional Insurance Women’s “Woman of the Year” (2011). She was designated a “Top Influencer” in Insurance Business America’s List of “Hot 100” (2014) and placed on Intelligent Insurer’s list of ‘Top 100 Women in Re/insurance” (2014 and 2015).
Pina holds a Maîtrise en Droit, International and European Community Law, from L’Université d’Aix-Marseille III, Aix-en-Provence,France; a Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Toronto,Canada; and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Languages from the University of Winnipeg, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Mark has recently been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Ki, the first fully digital algorithmically driven follow-only Lloyd’s syndicate. Ki has been formed in partnership with Brit, backed by Fairfax and Blackstone with a $500m capital commitment.
Alongside being CEO of Ki, Mark continues as Group CFO of Brit, leading the Group Finance and Legal & Compliance departments. Mark leads Brit’s 3rd Party Capital strategy, with responsibility for Sussex Capital and Syndicate 2988 as part of his role at Brit Limited.
Mark joined Brit in April 2010 and led the Group’s strategic review and corporate restructuring as the Director of Strategic Planning and Business Improvement. Prior to his appointment to Chief Financial Officer he held the role of Chief Risk Officer and Director of Strategy.
Prior to Brit, Mark led high-profile strategic projects for a range of large clients at McKinsey & Company.
Mark has also held Non-Executive Director positions at Compare the Market, where he was Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee, and at Simply Business.
Mark is also a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and holds an MA (hons) degree in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge.
Talbir has more than 20 years of experience in the London Market. Prior to founding Volante, Talbir was the CEO and Group CUO of Dual International. Previously he held a number of managerial positions at QBE Europe, including Managing Director.
He began his insurance career in 1998 at Willis in London before joining Swiss Re as a pricing actuary.
James Banasik (Applied Meteorology and Climate, MSc) is accredited by the prestigious University of Reading – ranked 2nd in the world for research in Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences.
He co-founded MetSwift in response to the supposition that ‘you cannot predict the weather that far ahead’, drawing on the research and learning of his fellow graduates, who are now a part of MetSwift.
Whilst in a previous role, James & his peers identified a notable gap in current commercial weather and natcat forecasting.
With Shaun Pammenter MSc – his co-founder – and supported by the expertise of James Peacock MSc (Head Meteorologist) and Joseph France MMet (Head of Data Science) he began developing MetSwift’s work in 2015: Utilising academic expertise alongside big data, artificial intelligence and data science to evolve the ways in which weather data is treated; predicting up to five years ahead.
Marcus Broome joined Whitespace in 2015 to focus on the opportunities created by modern Agile Data technologies and now leads the Whitespace Platform business.
Marcus has a wealth of experience of commercial insurance technology with a focus on the London Market. After working for a marine syndicate at Lloyd’s, he founded ROOM Solutions (now NIIT Insurance Technologies) which became a successful business with many customers in London, Europe, USA and Bermuda.
Stephen Catlin began his insurance career in 1973 joining BL Evens & Others, Syndicate 264 at Lloyd's. In 1982 he became deputy underwriter, specialising in the excess of loss and energy accounts where he was supported as a market leader. He founded Catlin Underwriting Agencies Limited in 1984, which later became part of Catlin Group Limited. Stephen served as the Catlin Group’s Chief Executive throughout its history and also served as the active underwriter of Lloyd’s Syndicate 1003 and later Syndicate 2003 until May 2003.
He assumed the position of Executive Deputy Chairman of XL Group Ltd from May 2015 (upon the completion of XL’s acquisition of Catlin Group Limited) to May 2017. From May to December 2017, he acted as a special advisor to XL’s Chief Executive Officer, Mike McGavick.
In April 2019, Stephen and Paul Brand founded international specialty insurer and reinsurer, Convex Group Limited.

Antony was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Ardonagh Specialty in February 2019. He has held numerous senior finance and commercial executive positions across a number of key industries, including FTSE 100 Telecoms giants BT and France Telecom and private equity industry Oakley Capital. He was appointed Group Finance Director for the Ardonagh Group in March 2018.
Matthew began his career in the early 1980s, in the London stockmarket. From there he moved into the fixed income derivatives markets, ultimately establishing his own business, Seagray Fosh Ltd (“SGF”) in 1988 on the London Financial Futures & Options market (‘LIFFE’). During the 1990s, SGF grew to become one of the largest independent brokers on LIFFE, specialising in the equity and fixed income options markets. During the second half of the 1990s, SGF made the transition to full electronic trading, and was subsequently acquired in 2002 by Icap plc.
In November 2002 Matthew moved across from the capital markets to the insurance industry, when he was appointed as CEO of Novae Group plc. He remained as CEO for 15 years before it was acquired by Axis Capital of Bermuda in November 2017.
Matthew remained at Axis for two further years before joining Optio Group in October 2020 as Executive Chairman.
Jason joined Acrisure Re (formerly Beach) in April 2016 as CEO, UK and International, and in January 2019 he was appointed Group CEO and is responsible for running the global business. Jason has over 30 years’ experience in the reinsurance industry, having worked for Willcox/Johnson & Higgins, and various divisions of the Willis Group.
He was made CEO of Willis Re International and Specialty in 2010. Jason headed up Glencairn in 2012 and oversaw the creation of Faber Global, the combined Willis Facultative and Glencairn, and made CEO following the amalgamation. In July 2014, Jason became CEO of Acappella Holdings
Sue has led PPL since its early days in 2016, and was instrumental in driving the project forwards to its strong London Market position today. She has broad experience of digital transformation projects across various sectors and a keen understanding of the challenges faced by the London Market as it works to digitise.
Sue was previously Chief Operating Officer at Adsensa, the market leader in contract data discovery, capture and analytics. Sue has worked extensively in marketing and sales across the technology sector, having previously held roles with companies including HP, Oracle and AT&T for whom she initiated and oversaw its UK national internet strategy. She also led Ordnance Survey’s nationwide migration to digital mapping.
Paul began his career at Lloyd’s and has worked exclusively for over 40 years in the London and International Insurance Markets for several organisations operating within this space. Paul currently leads DOCOsoft’s Innovation and Development team, providing innovative solutions and enhanced services for Claims professionals across the International and London Insurance Markets.
Paul worked for 9 years at AXIS Capital across theroles of Head of International Applications and International IT Business Lead,involved in M&A integrations as well as expanding the range of solutions that IT provided to the business and its operations.
While at Xchanging, Paul led numerous modernisation initiatives across the BPO practice delivering application upgrades, process improvements for reduced wastage and advisory services for the creation of numerous new syndicate operations.
Previously Chairman of the Xuber IRIS User Group for 5 years leading cross-company collaboration and knowledge sharing ensuring the consistent relevance of the product for speciality Re/Insurers.
Denis Kessler, a French citizen, is a graduate of HEC business school (École des Hautes Études Commerciales), holds a PhD in economics and advanced degrees in economics and social sciences, and is a Fellow of the French Institute of Actuaries. He was Chairman of the Fédération Française de l’Assurance (FFA), Senior Executive Vice-President and member of the Executive Committee of the AXA Group and Executive Vice-President of MEDEF (Mouvement des Entreprises de France). He joined SCOR as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer on November 4, 2002. In January 2016, he was elected to join the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences of the Institut de France.
Sharon Long joined Convex as Chief Claims Officer in October 2019, following the company's April 2019 launch. Prior to joining Convex, Sharon worked at Neon Underwriting Ltd where, since 2016, she held the role of Claims Director. Before joining Neon, Sharon was the UK Claims Board Director and an Executive member of Catlin Underwriting Agencies Limited from 2011 to 2016, having previously held technical claims and managerial roles within Catlin from 2004. Sharon has more than 30 years’ of claims handling experience, with client service, business development, operational and cultural change, technological advancement and the creation of conditions that enable claims teams to thrive, as her core areas of expertise. Alongside her current role, Sharon is an active Coach and a volunteer Cognitive Behavioural Therapist.
Valentina is the Active Underwriter for Coverys Syndicate 1975, where she is responsible for underwriting the syndicate’s portfolio of healthcare risks and co-ordinating and implementing the syndicate’s underwriting strategy.
Valentina started her career in the insurance market as an actuary in 1996. She managed actuarial teams at RSA in Italy and later at GE Financial and Group ama in London. Before joining Coverys, she worked 12 years at Beazley, where most recently had responsibility for the underwriting of the US hospitals portfolio.
Valentina is a frequent speaker at conferences on analytics and underwriting subjects within Medical Malpractice. She holds a master’s degree in Mathematics and is an affiliate member of the Institute of Actuaries.
Mike has been with Swiss Re for 20 years, and has 29 years ofreinsurance underwriting experience. He has expertise in developing andmanaging senior client / broker relationships, as well as leading crosscultural and functional teams in multiple offices around the globe. Mike hasled multiple and diverse reinsurance projects at Swiss Re over his tenure atthe company.
Mike started his professional career in 1987 in clientmanagement and underwriting at MS&G Re in London, and has since worked inthe industry in Asia, as well as Australia and Europe.
He is a member of the Australian Nuclear Insurance Pool Pty., amember of the Australian Business and Climate Group and an Advisory Boardmember at Macquarie University's Risk Frontiers program.
Mike was born in 1966 and is a British citizen. He holds a BAfrom Exeter University in Economics and Politics, and is an Associate of theChartered Insurance Institute in the UK.
Jonathan Prinn joined the insurance industry in 1989 when he joined Bowring Ltd (now part of Marsh & McLennan) from Rea Brothers Bank. He assumed a number of varied roles during his time at Marsh & McLennan, initially wholesale broking of both property and casualty lines. In 1993 Jonathan was seconded for 4 years to set up and run the Marsh Global Broking office in Zurich where he concentrated on fortune 500 client work, and pioneered the Marsh centralised placement model.
Returning to the UK, Jonathan lead the creation of a Marsh proprietary electronic trading system (Marsh Express) and following this became eBusiness Leader for Marsh Europe. In 2004 Jonathan moved to the Marsh Global Placement division as international Chief Operating Officer (COO). In 2006 Jonathan moved to be COO of MMC sister company Guy Carpenter Facultative (GCFac).
In 2008 Jonathan was recruited to Willis, and become COO of Willis Global Placement led the creation and implementation of the industry leading Broking system WillPLACE, and was globally responsible for such. In 2015 Jonathan became Deputy Chief Broking officer for Willis GB, encompassing all of the Willis GB based broking from UK retail to the global specialty businesses.
Jonathan joined Ed. as Group Head of Broking in September 2016 and as part of the Group Executive helped lead the turnaround of the business. The core aspect of his work was focused around the digitalization of the business, notably the build and launch of TradEd.
Ed Group was sold to BGC Partners in January 2019 and Jonathan moved to the parent company BGCP, as a Managing Director tasked with building an electronic broker to mirror BGC’s electronic initiatives in the capital markets.
Mike is President and Chief Executive of the Group. He joined in 1995 as a specialty casualty underwriter, writing D&O, E&O and Medical Malpractice. From 1998 to 2002, he was the Underwriting Manager of the London branch office before returning to the US as Chief Underwriting Officer for Domestic Operations. He assumed his current role in January 2012.
Prior to joining TransRe, Mike spent eight years as a professional liability underwriter at Continental Insurance.
Mike holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the College of William and Mary and an MBA in Finance from New York University.
Matthew Shaw joined TMK as Chief Underwriting Officer in May 2020. Prior to this he was with Chubb where, in his most recent role, he was divisional president of global markets.
Matthew started his career at Lloyd’s in 1982, working in Aviation and Non Marine lines, underwriting both direct and reinsurance business. He became Deputy Underwriter for Syndicate 340 in 1993 and Active Underwriter in 2000. Matthew then joined ACE (which later joined with Chubb) in October 2002 to manage the company’s European reinsurance business.
Matthew has also served as a member the Lloyd’s Aviation Underwriters Association and ABI committees. He was also a board director of Gravett and Tilling syndicate management and, from 1987, was a director of St Paul at Lloyd’s. He is currently on the board of the Lloyd's Market Association.
Nicola joined Chaucer as Chief Underwriting Officer in November 2019. Her main responsibilities are the development and execution of Chaucer’s underwriting strategy, with a focus on portfolio growth.
Nicola has over 30 years of (re)insurance experience, including senior underwriting leadership roles at Swiss Re and GE Insurance Solutions. She joined Chaucer from Swiss Re Europe where she previously served as Managing Director with responsibility for risk management globally for P&C Reinsurance.
Sequel focuses on complex commercial and specialty insurance software innovation for a diverse customer base that includes some of the world’s largest specialty insurers.
As CEO, Mr. Summers is responsible Globally for the strategic growth of the company, his particular drive is to provide a unique and unparalleled client experience through delivery of transformational solutions which fuse data and software creating innovative products.
Mr. Summers, with more than 30 years of experience driving innovation and change, Ian is a champion for technology for competitive advantage, joined Sequel in 2014 as business development director. Before that, he was chief information officer of Aon Group Limited.
Mr. Summers has chaired a number of international market modernization initiatives and has been active on the Global Ruschlikon Steering Committee, the ACORD Global Reinsurance and Large Commercial Steering Committee, and the Market Reform Strategy Group (MRSG) of the London & International Insurance Brokers’ Association (LIIBA).
In 2020 ACORD, the global standards-setting body for the insurance industry, named Ian a Top Ten InsurTech Leader with the greatest current and future ability to change the industry through InsurTech and in particular his work in Global Ecosystem-building.
Ian studied managerial studies at Ashridge Business School and breakthrough strategic thinking from the Cranfield University School of Management.
Katie is the Chief Financial Officer of AEGIS London, she joined in May 2020
Katie joined from the specialist motor insurer and Syndicate, ERS, where she was the CFO since 2013, being part of the management team responsible for the transformation under Aquiline’s private equity ownership
Prior to ERS Katie held positions as CFO for Aspen Insurance UK Limited and Aspen Managing Agency Limited (the UK entities of the Aspen Group) and previously as CFO for ACE Tempest Re (now part of Chubb), as well as various positions within the audit profession including with PwC
Stuart Willoughby joined SCOR Global P&C as Global Head of Claims in March 2012 and is a member of the Executive Management team.
With over 40+ years’ experience in claim management related roles in the Insurance industry including 28 years spent in underwriting operations and 16 years in Senior Management roles in broking operations. During this time he also held a number of posts representing the insurance industry including as a member of the Lloyd’s Market Association Claims Committee, Lloyd’s claims Service Review Board, chairman of the IUA Claims Strategy Group and the Lloyd’s Claims Future Process Model Steering Group. In 2017 he won the Claims Professional of the Year, as well as being a recipient of the Vince Donohue award, for his hard work and determination.
Stuart is a Past President of the International Association of Claims Professionals (IACP). In 2011, he was the first claims director to be nominated and elected to the Lloyd’s Market Association Board.
